Cause me to hear…

Cause me to hear your lovingkindness in the morning for in you do I trust.
Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to You.

All the paths of the LORD are steadfast love and faithfulness for those who keep His covenant—Make me know your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths—He teaches the humble His way—”Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Thus says the LORD:

“Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool; what is the house that you would build for me, and what is the place of my rest?  All these things my hand has made, and so all these things came to be, declares the LORD. But this is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word.”

Ps.143:8 NKJV; Ps.25:10,4,9 ESV; Mt.11:28,29 NIV; Is.66:1,2 ESV

Always this lovingkindess to come running home to, no matter how unsettled my little world.  Always forgiveness for the contrite.  Always the Word of God to direct my heart to contrition and my paths to God’s best for me. These are the constants that steady my walk in this world, that reassure me when my heart proves bankrupt and my soul feels parched… Always I can lift up my soul and ask the One who knows my hardness of hearing and my slowness to believe–“Cause me to hear…Cause me to know.”  And He, being forever loving and kind and the maker of my heart, knows just what is needed to bring this about. Amen?!
